The trail leads to Yugandhar (Vasishta Simha), a maniac with twisted motives. How Harika (Ashu Reddy) fits into the puzzle, whether Sowmya cracks the case, and what drives Yugandhar’s actions form the core of this investigative thriller.
Movie Synopsis:
Yevam brings actress Chandini Chowdary into the shoes of a cop for the first time. While she attempts to rise to the challenge, her performance lands somewhere in the middle, decent in places but lacking punch during key emotional moments. Jai Bharat Raj plays his part adequately, though without much impact.
The standout performance undoubtedly comes from Vasishta Simha, who nails the antagonist’s role with intensity and conviction. His presence brings some gravitas to the otherwise predictable narrative.
Unfortunately, the film doesn’t live up to the promise set by its trailer. While the setup hints at a dark and gripping crime thriller, the screenplay fails to deliver the necessary tension. The scenes feel stretched, the pace sluggish, and the plot progression uninspired.

The biggest issue lies in the writing. The mystery becomes too easy to unravel, especially for regular viewers of the genre. The identity of the culprit is almost obvious by the interval, removing any real suspense from the second half.
The much-hyped ‘re-introduction’ of Chandini Chowdary doesn’t bring a significantly different role or performance. Her character lacks depth and doesn’t allow her to showcase her full range. Scenes involving her often lack emotional engagement.
Key supporting characters like Goparaju Ramana are underdeveloped, and the screenplay misses opportunities to explore subplots that could have added depth. A strong background score is crucial for crime thrillers, yet the film’s music fails to elevate any scene, further weakening its impact.
Verdict:
Yevam tries to be a crime investigative thriller but ends up as a mediocre attempt with little novelty. Chandini Chowdary and Vasishta Simha deliver passable performances, but the lack of compelling character arcs, unengaging narration, and dull execution make it hard to stay invested. The uninspired writing, slow pace, and lack of emotional intensity make Yevam a skippable outing for most viewers.
